Round Robin Generator

Generate a round robin schedule for 3–32 teams. Every pair plays once, odd fields get byes, and the same schedule exports to CSV or PDF.

What is a round robin generator?

A round robin generator creates a schedule in which every team plays every other team once. Unlike a knockout bracket, no team is eliminated after a loss. This schedule maker groups matches into rounds without assigning a team twice in the same round and includes byes for an odd number of teams.

How to use the round robin generator

  1. Enter 3–32 teams, one per line, and use distinct labels for teams with the same name.
  2. Optionally shuffle the order before generating. The default uses your input order.
  3. Review each round. Every team plays at most once in a round; a listed bye means that team rests.
  4. Export CSV for spreadsheet planning or PDF for a round-by-round handout.

Try this workflow

Enter seven team names and generate a schedule. You get 21 matches across seven rounds, with three matches and one bye in each round. Every team has exactly one bye. Download CSV to add your own start times and venues in a spreadsheet.

Ways to use this tool

League fixtures

Make a single-cycle fixture list when each entrant should meet the whole field. Add times, locations and scores outside this tool.

Small sports events

Schedule groups of teams before a later playoff. Keep separate pools in separate generated schedules.

Game or discussion rotations

Use participants instead of teams to create pairings where each pair meets once.

Round robin match and round counts

With n teams, a single round robin has n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches. For six teams that is 15 matches; for seven it is 21.

An even field uses n − 1 rounds with n ÷ 2 matches each. An odd field uses n rounds, with (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches and one bye per round.

The rotation method holds one position fixed and rotates the remaining entries. It covers each unordered pair once. Left and right positions are not a guarantee of balanced home and away games.

Round order is not a time or venue schedule. The tool does not model court capacity, travel, rest-time rules, repeat legs or standings. CSV bye rows use status=bye with an empty second-team field.

Keep and share your result

Exports use the current result without generating again. After editing inputs, generate a new result to apply the changes. Downloaded PDFs use high-resolution page images on A4 paper; they are printable but their text is not selectable. Use available copy or CSV options when you need editable text.

Your entered names, words, clues and tasks are processed in this browser. These tools do not upload them, put them in the URL, store them in browser storage or include them in analytics events. Refreshing or leaving the page discards the current result. General site analytics still run; see the privacy policy.
